“Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 8:14-17

Confirmation

Confirmation is conferred after Baptism to strengthen the work of the Holy Spirit begun in Baptism. Confirmation helps us to conform more closely to Christ. It calls us to accept a sense of mission to be sent out to the world to be a living vital witness to the teaching of Jesus Christ. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is offered in the second year of preparation following First Reconciliation.

Initiation Sacraments

The Restored Order of the Sacraments promulgated by Vatican Council II, is Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the age of reason (3rd grade). Sharing in the Holy Eucharist completes our Initiation into the Church. Since September of 2017, Curé d’Ars parish had the Restored Order in place for all 3rd Graders.

Sacramental preparation classes for these sacraments are held in addition to the religious education sessions held on the second, third, and fourth Sunday of the month from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM.

In the year prior to receiving the sacrament as well as in the year in which the sacrament is received, candidates must participate with consistent attendance in worship and Religious Education/Youth Ministry.

In addition, special classes are held several weeks prior to the celebration of the sacrament. Pending research, RCL Benziger Program for Confirmation is currently being used. Please contact the parish office for more information.
